The NAYAX card terminal talks to the machine over the MDB bus. Installing the terminal is only half the job — the machine itself has to be configured to speak to it, otherwise the terminal shows the wrong price or refuses cashless payments altogether.
This is a one-time setup and takes about two minutes.
Before you start
- The terminal is physically wired to the machine's MDB connector.
- The terminal is registered in your NAYAX account.
- You are at the machine. This setup cannot be done remotely.
1. Connect the terminal to MDB
- Power off the machine before touching the connector.
- Plug the terminal's MDB cable into the machine's MDB connector.
- Power the machine back on.
2. Configure the machine
On the machine screen:
Service Mode → Developer Mode → Configurator → Engineering Menu
Then:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Multiplier | 0.01 |
| MDB Level | 3 |
- Tap Read to apply the values.
- Tap Write to save them permanently.
The
Multiplierin the Engineering Menu is the MDB scaling for the terminal. It is not the same asCashSaleInfoMultiplierinhard_settings.json— different parameter, different purpose. Do not copy one into the other.
Why these values
- MDB Level 3 is the standard MDB protocol level Shaker machines run on. It is not NAYAX-specific.
- Multiplier 0.01 scales the amount exchanged over MDB so the terminal displays the same price the machine shows on screen.
3. Verify with a card
- Exit Service Mode.
- Start a purchase and pay with a card.
- The terminal must show the same price as the machine screen, and the payment must go through.
If the price is wrong or the payment is declined:
- Re-check that Multiplier is
0.01and MDB Level is3. - Save again with Write.
- Reboot the machine and repeat the test.
Troubleshooting
The terminal shows "out of order" or an error code (M00 / V00). This is usually a lost link between the machine controller and the terminal, not a broken terminal. The controller answers a periodic heartbeat over MDB; when it stops answering, the terminal reports itself out of service. Check the MDB cable, confirm MDB Level 3, and reboot the machine.
No internet does not stop sales. A Wi-Fi outage only breaks reporting: the machine keeps selling and stores sales locally, uploading them once the connection returns. What blocks card payments is a broken MDB link, not a broken network — these are two separate channels.
A payment went through but no sale was recorded. A sale is written only after the drink cycle finishes successfully. If preparation fails halfway, the terminal may have already taken the money while no sale record exists on our side. In that case check the transaction in the NAYAX cabinet.
Check that payment is actually required after any terminal work. On some configurations, losing the cashless device can leave the machine dispensing without charging. After installing or re-configuring a terminal, always run one live purchase and confirm the machine asks for payment.
Where sales appear
Sales for a machine are shown in the telemetry cabinet under Machines → your machine → Sales. The dashboard tile is an aggregate for the selected period (a week by default), not a live feed, and it is available only for machines in our telemetry account. Card-level transaction detail — authorizations, settlements, refunds — lives in the NAYAX cabinet.
